Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a visitor.
Last updated: March 9, 2026
1. Introduction
DD Form 214 Life ("we," "our," or "us") operates the website located at ddform214life.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit or use our Site.
By accessing or using our Site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use our Site. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and subject to our Terms of Service.
2. Information We Collect
We collect different categories of information depending on how you use the Site:
2a. Account Information (DD Form 214 Life Pro Subscribers): If you create an account to use paid features, we collect:
- Email address (used for authentication and account communications).
- Authentication credentials (managed by Supabase; passwords are hashed and salted).
- Subscription tier and billing cycle (Pro, Pro+, Mission Ready, or Command).
- Usage counts for AI features (number of requests per feature per day/month for rate limiting).
2b. Payment Information: Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, Inc. We receive your Stripe customer ID and subscription status but never receive, store, or have access to your credit card number, bank account details, or other payment card data.
2c. Information We Do NOT Collect: We do not collect:
- Social Security numbers, service numbers, or military ID numbers.
- DD-214 contents or discharge documents.
- Medical records, health information, or disability details.
- Physical mailing addresses or phone numbers.
3. Client-Side vs. Server-Side Data Processing
Free tools on this Site — including the DD-214 Decoder, MOS Translator, VA Disability Calculator, Salary Calculator, Benefits Eligibility Quiz, and State Benefits Finder — process data entirely within your web browser on your local device. No data from free tools is transmitted to our servers.
AI-powered features (DD Form 214 Life Pro) require server-side processing. When you use AI Resume Review, AI Cover Letter Generator, AI Claim Analyzer, AI Transition Advisor Chat, or AI Job Search:
- The text you submit is transmitted from your browser to our servers and then forwarded to Anthropic, PBC ("Anthropic") for AI processing via their commercial API.
- We do not store, log, or retain the content of your AI inputs or outputs on our servers. Your text is passed through to Anthropic and the response is returned to your browser. No copies are kept on our infrastructure.
- Under Anthropic's Commercial API terms, your data is not used to train Anthropic's AI models. Anthropic may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days solely for trust and safety purposes (abuse monitoring and legal compliance), after which they are deleted. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- We store only aggregate usage counts (e.g., "User X used resume-review 3 times today") for rate limiting purposes. We do not store what you submitted or what the AI responded.
WARNING: Do Not Submit Sensitive Information
Do NOT submit personally identifiable information (PII), Social Security numbers, military service numbers, classified or controlled unclassified information (CUI), protected health information (PHI), financial account numbers, passwords, or any other sensitive data to AI-powered features. Once submitted, data is transmitted to third-party AI services and cannot be recalled. You are solely responsible for the content you submit. DD Form 214 Life accepts no liability for any consequences arising from your submission of prohibited or sensitive information. See our Terms of Service (Section 10A) for full details.
4. Non-Personal Information We May Collect
We may automatically collect certain non-personal, anonymized, or aggregated information through third-party services for the purpose of improving the Site and understanding how it is used. This may include:
- Analytics data: Anonymized usage data such as pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URLs, browser type, device type, and general geographic region (country/state level only, not specific addresses or precise location).
- Technical data: Anonymized or truncated IP addresses, browser version, operating system, and screen resolution for site optimization and security purposes.
This data cannot be used to identify any individual user and is collected solely for aggregate statistical analysis.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our Site may use cookies and similar tracking technologies provided by third-party services. We do not set any first-party tracking cookies. Third-party cookies may include:
- Google Analytics: Used to understand how visitors interact with our Site through anonymized, aggregate data. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Google AdSense: Used to display advertisements. AdSense may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our Site or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or via the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
- Vercel Analytics: Our hosting provider may collect anonymized performance and usage data. Vercel Privacy Policy.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or alert you when a cookie is being sent. Note that disabling cookies may affect some functionality of the Site or the relevance of displayed advertisements.
6. How We Use Collected Information
The limited non-personal information we collect is used solely for the following purposes:
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its tools.
- To analyze usage trends and optimize user experience.
- To detect and prevent security threats or technical issues.
- To display relevant advertisements through Google AdSense.
- To comply with legal obligations, if any.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer any information to third parties for marketing purposes.
7. Data Sharing & Disclosure
Since we do not collect PII, we have no personal data to share. Anonymized analytics data may be processed by the third-party services listed in Section 5 in accordance with their respective privacy policies. We do not sell data to data brokers, advertisers, or any other third parties.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process, such as a court order, subpoena, or government request, to the extent such information exists.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the Site and its infrastructure. The Site is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Because our tools process data entirely in your browser and we do not store any personal data on our servers, the risk of a data breach affecting your personal information from our Site is inherently minimized.
9. Data Retention
Account data (email, subscription status, usage counts) is retained for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription and request account deletion, we will delete your account data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention, financial records).
AI feature inputs and outputs are not stored on our servers. Anthropic may retain API data for up to 30 days per their trust and safety policies, after which it is deleted.
Payment records are retained by Stripe in accordance with their data retention policies and applicable financial regulations.
Free tool data entered into browser-based tools exists only in your browser's local memory and is permanently discarded when you close the tab, navigate away, or refresh the page.
Anonymized analytics data is retained by Google Analytics for up to 14 months.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your data. Since we do not collect PII, most data subject rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) are not applicable. However, you have the right to:
- Opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.
- Opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
- Disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.
- Do Not Track: We honor Do Not Track ("DNT") browser signals. When DNT is enabled, we will not engage in tracking beyond what is described in this policy.
- Request information about what data, if any, we hold about you by contacting us at the address below.
11. State & International Privacy Rights
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act, California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Since we do not collect, sell, or share personal information as defined under CCPA/CPRA, these rights are inherently satisfied. We do not discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights.
European Economic Area, UK & Switzerland (GDPR): If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including rights to access, rectification, erasure, data portability, and objection. Since we do not process personal data as defined under GDPR, these rights are inherently satisfied. Our legal basis for processing anonymized analytics data is legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the Site.
Maryland Residents (MODPA): Under the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (effective October 1, 2025), Maryland residents have the right to access, correct, delete, and port personal data, as well as the right to opt out of the sale of personal data and targeted advertising. Since we do not sell personal data, do not engage in targeted advertising beyond Google AdSense (which you can opt out of), and our free tools process data entirely in your browser, these rights are substantively satisfied. Maryland residents may exercise any applicable rights by contacting us at the address below.
Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and other US states: If you reside in a state with consumer privacy legislation, you may have similar rights regarding personal data. Since we do not collect personal data beyond what is described herein, these rights are inherently satisfied. Please contact us if you have any questions about your specific rights.
12. Children's Privacy
Our Site is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our Site, please contact us immediately so we can take appropriate action to delete such information.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
